Boris v Ventoux
This is fantastic. 25kg of Boris bike against Mont Ventoux.
To be honest, you should probably flick a bit of cash towards the Macmillan foundation for this. Go on, do it.

Heffron Crits washed out
Today I’d hoped to bring a report from the SUVelo Open crits at Heffron Park, however due to weather conditions more favourable to ducks, that’s not happening. So instead here’s a picture of a cat chilling on his bike

Public Service Announcement: Give your Garmin a Chance

Look at those elapsed times. Look at them! Would you have me believe that you were riding for as much as 52,000 hours? That’s nigh on six years in the saddle!
No, what’s happened here is that these three riders have set off and pressed their ‘start’ button before their device has acquired a satellite signal.
This has to stop. Garmin devices all over the country are desperately confused about which decade they’re in. Don’t let yours be the same. Wait until you’ve got full signal before pressing start. You know it makes sense.

Kinesio Tape. Quackery?
GCN have started a series on using Kinesio Tape to treat injuries. Being of a skeptical mindset, I was rather suspicious of this. How can a simple strip of tape prevent or treat injuries? I decided to check this out.
Now, I need to make it clear up front. I’m a Skeptic. That capital S is there for a reason. I’ve spoken at Skeptical conferences and gatherings, appeared on a number of skeptical and science-promotion podcasts and I organise an annual event in Sydney called Skepticamp, where science advocacy and quackbusting are the order of the day. I’ve been involved with Stop The AVN since Day One
In short, I like evidence.

Cycling Goals for 2014

I’ve got a few specific riding goals, and several less specific goals, for 2014. Some are on the bike, a couple are off the bike, but they should all be attainable in some way. I thought it might be nice to get them down ‘on paper’ as December kicks in and the whole lot gets lost in the party season.
